how do i wash landscaping gravel;such as marble and pea rock?
Blue Raspberry, Orange, Cherry, & Lemon-Lime Slush Puppies & Grand Prix Cigarettes.

gravel walkway, two years old, muddy and dirty, easiest way to clean?

Very hard work ... get yourself a very large bucket ... a wheel-barrel works best ... a garden rake (stiff, iron prongs) ... a shovel. Break the rocks apart with the rake and scoop them into the bucket/wheel-barrel and blast them with the hose ... rinse and dump the water.

This isn't fun work ! Muddy, messy and heavy ... you have to dig out the rocks, wash them, get all the leaves out and the dirt off ... then replace.

Takes some time, but it will look like brand new when you're done. You'll be a complete mess, however ! ;-O

Gravel landscaping, do i need to remove the existing turf first?
Businessmodel adwindle in orange & green!, people all out chauffeuring plastic sacks of tapes or discs around town in their cars & trucks.

I want to put gravel at the side of my house where the grass grows poorly due to shade.
I intend to put a weed membrane then a decorative gravel.
Do I need to dig up the turf first? or can I spray it with weed killer then put the membrane directly on top?

dig it up weed killer then Vasquez then gravel.

I am looking for information about landscaping gravel. What is a good inexpensive gravel?
Deliverymen are out dropping off some sacks of Doritos for resale at Terrible's Gas.

I am unsure of what types of materials these refer to. I need an inexpensive quarter size or smaller type of gravel. #2a is regular driveway gravel right?

What do these mean?
2A Material (2A Modified=GABC=DGA)
AASHTO# 1 (Ballast)
R-3 Rip Rap
R-4 Rip Rap
R-5 Rip Rap
R-6 Rip Rap
R-7 Rip Rap
R-8 Rip Rap
Rustic Red AASHTO# 10 (Grit, Screenings)
Rustic Red AASHTO# 3 ("1½" Clean="3A Clean")
Rustic Red AASHTO# 57 (2B)
Rustic Red AASHTO# 8 (1B)

Thank you in advance for your time.........

I'm not sure about the 2-A material, but the last time I had gravel put on our driveway it was #57, about 3/4" stone. #8's are smaller. The ballast and rip-rap are all big rocks. The screenings are like sand and used for base material.

Removing grass from gravel landscaping?
Thank you for your vast lengthening of my intestines' memories, long long long into the night.

I have grass growing where it shouldn't, in the gravel that borders my yard and the fence. I've sprayed it with grass and weed killer several times and tried to pick the dead grass out, but it just grows back even thicker every time. As a last resort I'm thinking of torching it and then raking the rocks over the ashes and soot. I have less than a month to get this done before I have to move out of the place and I'd hate to lose part of my deposit for the removal.

Any suggestions or comments about my idea. Anything helps, thanks.

Burning grass won't help. I used to live in Northern Idaho and that is exactly what the grass farmers do for next years crop.

The trick is to spray before it goes to seed. Those seeds are your next plant. Some sprays are herbicide (kills the plant), some are pre-emergent (stops seeds from sprouting), some are systemic (goes up into the plant through the root system).

I did our enormous gravel driveway this year. I am at work so I do not have the bottle with me but it was in a red bottle, it was really concentated 2 oz. per gallon ran about $22.00. I bought a dial container to hook up to my hose (not the miracle grow type) and it was dead in 2 days. I then took a shuffle hoe (some all it a hoola hoe) and shuffled out the dead stuff. 24 Tons of fresh gravel later....... My driveway looks great!

Is it OK to use landscaping "pea gravel" in an aquarium?
I am up here in the sky with Susan Boyle!

I know I will need to wash it thoroughly but I guess gravel is gravel...right?

Wrong! You need to use caution when adding just any gravel to a fish tank. Some landscaping gravel is treated with herbacides and/or pesticides that will be harmful if not lethal to your fish. Some stone/rock will also alter your water chemistry (limestone for example is commonly used for landscaping). Sandstone deteriorates and other rocks are porous which could harbour bacteria and/or parasites. While you could boil landscaping gravel to eradicate parasites, bacteria and/or chemicals, you still run the risk of introducing potentially chemistry changing elements into your tank. Don't risk it. Even if you have to pay a bit more for aquarium-safe gravel, the investment is worthwhile.

Many times landscape gravel is seen as underlying foundation or as a temporary fix but it can be seen as a unique material to accent your yard or garden. The best thing about landscape gravel is that it is easy to install and is low-maintenance over time. Here is a simple process for do-it-yourself landscape gravel.

Step 1 - Making the foundation

A great way to accent your landscape gravel is to have a rock or stone border outlining the area. Dig out the land where you want the landscape gravel to be. Depending on your border and the look you are going for you should only have to dig out a hole that is approximately 2-3 inches deep. The ground should be smooth and flat.
