Need to camoflage a slope in my backyard, any landscaping ideas?

Our backyard has a slope from the fence to about 6 feet out. It's about 4 feet difference. i need some ideas to camoflage the slope. There's not much that can be done as far as leveling without having to replace the entire fence.

Instead of trying to hide it make a feature of it with a fairly steep terrace of flower beds, putting low lying plants at the lower levels in the front and gradually increase plant hight as you get higher up the terrace.
or a alpine feature with large stones and gravel and some lovely alpine plants

Landscaping a backyard with a slope?

My husband and I just bought a new home. Our backyard is level and then it slopes off to a wooded area. The slope is about a 15 foot drop. Is it possible for this to be landscaped? If so, how? I am thinking all we may need is dirt to level it off.

if you are going to use soil to level it, you are first going to have to use a lot of soil and, secondly, you'll probably going to have to put a retaining wall up to prevent erosion. If you don't level it and put in a retention wall, you aren't going to want to cut grass on an angle like that. Also you are going to have to get something that has a pretty good root system. Why don't you make it a transition area between the conventional turf and the wooded area? You can check at your local extension service to see what type of seed they use on your highway embankments. You can sow that on the slope, along with wildflower seeds, and maybe add some crocuses and daffodils for additional color. If tall grass bothers you, use more wildflower seeds. Most highway blends are combinations of rye and rescue. Those grasses can grow up to six inches in season.

i have a deep slope in my backyard...i want to get ideas of landscaping where can i find it?

Here are a few ideas you have to adjust to your individual budget and if you are on the sweat equity program. (DIY)

Help! Long downward slope in my backyard?

I have about a 100 foot downward slope for a backyard at my new house. No landscaping of any kind. I am looking for ideas to make this a good, usable space for my family on a limited budget (we are a little house poor, the house itself is great).

The only way to make this space usable at all would be to terrace it, and you'd have to hire someone to do such a large project. You'll also have to make sure you don't adversely affect the existing drainage on the property. That sounds like a huge slope, and not something a homeowner could reasonably expect to improve.

How do we grade our backyard to protect home from water?

Our backyard slopes toward our house right now. And our home is lower than the road and ally. There is an ally entrance to our backyard. I'm concerned that a good, long rain storm will bring water down the ally and into my yard. What are some possible landscape solutions?

French drains and catch basins several of them to collect and re-route away for your house. Focus on where the ally and road meet your property.

Another soultion have a sump installed with a pump that activates when the waters level reaches a certain point.

Impressive Backyard Landscaping Ideas | Backyard Landscaping Ideas

There’s hardly a homeowner out there who hasn’t invested at least a little effort in making sure the front yard looks decent. A well landscaped backyard, however, is often mistaken as something often only for dedicated gardeners or those with plenty of cash to spare. With these “big bang for your buck” backyard landscaping ideas , though, you won’t necessarily have to spend months perfecting your yard or hire a high-priced professional landscaper to do the design for your.

Install a Water feature

From Olympic size swimming pools to secluded little garden ponds, there’s just something about water features that says “wealth.” You can have a small garden fountain set up and landscaped in day. A rock waterfall that spills into a small pond takes a little more time to build, but is more unique than a pre-fab fountain. If you don’t mind a little extra maintenance, consider adding a koi pond as one of the focal points of your yard.

Tips for Back Yard Landscaping | Home and Gardening

When it comes to the back yard, your designs should center around maximizing the amount of usable living space you have, rather than focusing totally on the appearance of the space as in the front yard.

Define your Needs

The first thing to consider when designing your back yard is what you want out of the space. Do you want a place for your children to play? Or, would you prefer an entertainment area with a barbecue and eating area, or a quiet space with a small pond, for relaxation? Perhaps you would like a flower garden, herb garden, or vegetable patch, or an easy-care space that doesn’t require you to spend your weekends doing maintenance work?

One of the most important considerations at this stage is deciding how much time you are willing to spend on maintenance. If you don’t want to spend large amounts of time on yard maintenance work and gardening, you’ll need to focus on creating low-maintenance spaces and choosing plants that don’t require special care.
