Looking for some inspirational landscaping ideas for the backyard.
A good backyard landscaping idea is to use evergreens. They will add a stately nature to the feel of your home while keeping it welcoming and warm. Many people like to use deciduous trees in the yard but a better idea is to use evergreens. Evergreens give the yard the structure and stability it needs for a good backyard landscaping idea and design.
Another good backyard landscaping idea is to use hardscape. This is the use of things like rocks, fences and walls. These can make your yard look very interesting during all of the seasons. You can have climbing plants on it in the summer & spring and trees around it that will look great in winter.

I have a smaller back yard but we have this Mound that goes up to the back brick wall and underneath the mound is all concrete so I can't dig into it. Its almost the full length of our backyard.
Any thoughts as to what to do with it?
It is concrete underneath but dirt on top.
There are quite a few sites that will give you good ideas for your backyard. Try:
http://www.myidealgarden.com/ or
http://www.the-landscape-design-site.com /backyardlandscaping.html
I found those two had great ideas, but there are a lot more if you want to check. Just Google 'backyard landscape designs' for a big list.
As far as your concrete problem goes, I have an idea, but it depends on where you live. If the conditions are ok, succulents would be a good choice, as the roots are shallow and they require very little care and are very easy to grow. Try this site and see what you think:

Our backyard has a slope from the fence to about 6 feet out. It's about 4 feet difference. i need some ideas to camoflage the slope. There's not much that can be done as far as leveling without having to replace the entire fence.
Instead of trying to hide it make a feature of it with a fairly steep terrace of flower beds, putting low lying plants at the lower levels in the front and gradually increase plant hight as you get higher up the terrace.
or a alpine feature with large stones and gravel and some lovely alpine plants
Try going to www.bhg.com
This is a site that has things like "Plan a garden" "Paint a room" crafts, recepies and a whole lot more. I use this site all the time. I recomend that you create an account with them, it's free and you will get a lot more options. Trust me, it's a great site, and even their customer service is very profetional.
Just bought a brand new house. Want a low maintenance back yard, don't want any grass, but do want the yard look artistic. The back yard is wide, but not deep. The size is about 23 X 60 feet. Any idea?
I say whatever you choose to do use conifers! There are plenty of beautiful small conifers that won't outgrow the space so there will be no need for a lot of maintenance. Also, I love Japanese Maples because there are so many varieties that are small, 3', 6', and 8' tall even at maturity. You could use groundcovers so there's no need to mow. Or if you prefer you could use mulch or rock even.
I've been designing a landscape for my own new house so I know how overwhelming it can be and how many decisions must be made. There are many landscaping pictures and ideas at the HGTV website. Whatever you do, I"m sure it will be beautiful just because you're doing it, so many ppl don't do anything at all.

As far as ideas go, I like the idea of creating rooms the other guy suggested and ofcourse the water feature, both wonderful ideas. I have similar ideas of my own such as one "room" in the yard that is covered by a pergola with wisteria hanging down with some conifers sortof framing it with maybe a seating areas underneath. A few added plants for color and there you go. But there are so many ideas out there that it's overwhelming I know; so many different styles so choose your style first then go from there. I perfer more of a Japanese style myself and not a big fan of country or english but each to their own. Anyway, I would suggest making a plan first so you won't regret it later by having the wrong plants in the wrong places or plants that will outgrow your space. Anyway, hope at least some of this helps.

Backyard Landscaping Ideas to Help Sell Your House | Real Estate ...
In order to have much success in selling your house in this bad economy, you have to do everything you can to get ahead of the competition and make it a great deal for the buyer. You will have to be able to satisfy all of the demands that the buyers will want when considering your house.
You should not forget the backyard when you decide to sell your home. Having a Spartan design is acceptable if you keep the existing landscaping groomed properly. Your property includes the backyard, so how you maintain it demonstrates how you take care of the house itself. An eye-catching house and yard that is well cared for presents a good package.
Many people will have personalized their yards to their specific needs in their time of ownership. Personalizing your yard is great for as long as you live there, but may negatively affect how your house sells. You would have to find a potential buyer who could appreciate what you have done with your yard in order to have any success in selling your home. If your prospective buyers are not interested in the kind of yard that you have created, they would have to invest money right off to create a kind of yard they could be comfortable in, and would most likely cause them not to purchase your home.
