We have erosion problems, and want yard for the kids. My wife wants a patio and water feature. I really want an outdoor fireplace too, but not sure we can afford it.
We used Angel Land Designs for our landscaping project. They fixed a real erosion problem for us and the yard is amazing. The price they quoted was what we paid - no hidden charges or change orders. Visit their website at www.angel-land-designs.com to see their work. They took pictures of our yard and they are on the website. Look at the yard with the patio and waterfall. Really great stuff! Their phone number is 770-422-8440.

Overall, I love the city, especially the Buckhead section!
What I love about it: Clean, green with trees and landscaping, nice people, Affordable, lots to do.
What I hate about it: High Crime rate in certain sections, too segregated...races seem to exclusevely stick together in this city. You go downtown and one type of people are there, you go midtown/uptown it's mixed a little better, you go to the subburbs and one kind of people are there. I prefer a healthy mix everywhere. And it gets really hot in the summer.
Atlanta is a great city (I have lived there for 14 years)
In my answer I will talk about the surrounding metro area as well.
Positives -
1.Green city. It is true that Atlanta is a pretty green city (Piedmont Park is a highlight. The surrounding metro area also has great tree cover and lots of green spaces.) Th air pollution is lower than in other cities.
2. Education - The Fulton County School system is one of the best in the state if not the best. Many of the top schools (Alpharetta, Chattahoochee, Northview) are in the Fulton County School System. There are also top schools in Gwinett, Forsyth, and Cobb counties. Atlanta also has both Georgia State and Georgia Tech, two of the 3 largest universities in the state (Georgia Tech is highly ranked among tech institutes and last year it was 4th in grad programs)
3. Business - Atlanta has always been an southern economic bastion since cival war and reconstruction time. Many top companies like UPS, Home Depot, Bellsouth (now a large part of ATNT) and of course, Coca Cola!!!!.
4. Business leads to expansion. Especially in the suburbs, it is easily seen that new subdivisions and houses are benign built as the cities populations continues to expand. This causes new opportunities for social gatherings and
5. Tourism! Atlanta is quickly becoming an important tourist destination in the SOuth what with the Georgia Aquarium (the world's largest aquarium), the new civil war museum, and the new World of Coke. Existing attractions include the Fox theater, the Atlanta zoo, the Martin Luther King Jr center, STone Mountain is close by, Six Flags over Georgia (now with GOLIATH) and others. The rise in tourism is great both for visitors and people that live here. SHopping also increases for Buckhead.
6. Exansion also causes a rice in prices of homes - good for sellers.
7. The Atlanta area has great sports teams in the Braves, Falcons, Thrashers, etc...
GO BRAVES!!!!
Negatives
1. Expansion is causing house prices to increase by a large amount - bad for sellers.
2. Expansion is also causing much deforestation in the metro area. Everywhere I go more I see more trees being cut down.
3. High crime in a few areas and lingering segregation in some areas is also a problem.
4. Traffic in the mornings and late afternoon. 400 is evil as is I-85 in the city
Still ATLANTA is a great place
Come visit the ATL!
Atlanta is running out of water but a suburb is allowing new landscaping to be watered, what is everyone's opinion on this?

Atlanta Landscaping Services
Landscape services are segmented by residential or commercial and by installation or maintenance. Some Atlanta landscaping companies only provide residential service while others only work with commercial customers. Below are the main landscaping service segments to help identify what type of landscape company will be the best match for a particular project or need.
Atlanta Landscaping – Residential Maintenance Landscape maintenance for residences involves a weekly or semi-monthly service that typically includes basic lawn service – sometimes referred to as mow, edge and blow. In addition homeowners may need quarterly or monthly chemical treatments to prevent weeds and kill fungus and other diseases that can attack grasses.
