I need some backyard landscaping designs?
Mediterranean Fan Palm

I need some backyard landscaping designs to get ideas for my own yard. Is there a website where I can find these? Or if you can send me the design or your backyard it would be appreciated. I live in arizona and have a fairly big backyard any ideas (ie. what plants, trees rocks, grass, stone walkways etc.) thanks

I was looking for something else and came acrossed a website that offers tips on finding good landscape software. The sidebar to the left on the site shows available software. Here it is. Hope it helps!

Question about irrigation sprinklers in my backyard landscaping.?
Backyard Landscaping

I had sod and an irrigation system installed in my backyard. I'm in Arizona and have the BOB sod which is very thick. Its a blend of 4 different kinds of grass but mostly Bermudagrass. Because its so thick, its hard to mow it too much shorter and some of the sprinkler heads are not sticking up above the grass enough to water correctly. Is there an easy way to extend the heads a little higher or does each head need to be dug up and more PVC pipe need to be installed? I need them to be sticking up about an inch higher.
I need a real answer from someone who knows what they are talking about. Not someone who's just trying to get points. Thank so much!

check out home depot or lowes irrig. dept. they have plastic risers that can be screwed in where the head is. They come in all diff. sizes so find out what size your water line is. They are usually half inch dia.

What is the best outdoor plants for the Arizona climate?
Our New Landscaping

I have a new home and I want to have the backyard landscaped. What would be the best plants/flowers for this climate? I would like comething with color if possible.

I built a new house in Phoenix and lived there for 5 years. I too wanted a lush colorful yard. There are many things that are stunning:

Bougainvillea
Hibiscus
Gardenias
Oleander
Jacaranda
Lantana

There is a book published by the Sunset Garden company that is specific to southwestern plants. Can't recommend it more highly!

PS. There is the most marvelous citrus tree called a Cocktail Tree. They graft lemon, grapefruit and orange onto rootstock, so one tree produces all three fruits! If memory serves, I bought mine at Tip Top Nursery. You won't regret having one---it is a stunner and SUCH a conversation piece!

What is a good palm tree to have next to a pool in Arizona?

I have just moved here (Arizona) from Indiana and am going to be doing some landscaping in my backyard now that my pool is complete. I want to include some palm trees, but I'm not sure which ones will be less invasive or require less maintenance. The lamdscaper recommended queen palms, but they're not the prettiest things I've ever seen :)

canary island date palms and sago palms are great. also mazari palms are very strong. mexican fan palms are a bit too common, but are nice as well.

Add an Outdoor Shower to Your Backyard Landscape | Dream Retreats ...

You’d expect to find an outdoor shower at a suite at a lush Caribbean resort, but in your own home? Why not? That’s what more and more homeowners seem to be saying, as the master bath becomes yet another room in the house where people are letting in a little bit of the great outdoors.

To be clear, we’re not referring to those freestanding outdoor showers for rinsing off after you get out of the pool. We’re talking the alfresco shower as a permanent outdoor extension of your indoor bathroom.

“We spend so much time in cyber reality, in front of the TV or the computer, on the phone, in our cars, divorced from the natural world, that people really respond to something like an outdoor shower,” says Ethan Fierro, a Hawaii-based designer and builder and author of The Outdoor Shower. “It allows you those 10 to 15 minutes to connect with nature.” “There’s definitely the back-to-nature aspect of baring it all outdoors,” seconds Elizabeth Demetriades, a Lakeville, Conn., architect who has worked on a pair of projects with outdoor showers.
