Accounting Software for small landscaping business?

Other than Quickbooks, what is a good software program for a small business? Our company provides landscaping services for residential/commercial maintenance and landscaping construction.

Thanks

I'd maintain that Quickbooks is the best. But there's also Peachtree and a newish program called MYOB (Mind Your Own Business) that seems to be growing in popularity.

What kind of form do I need to get a business account?

I am trying to open a business account for my new landscaping business in North Carolina. I already have a tax i.d. no. but the bank is telling me that I need some kind of notarized form from the city regarding a "fictitious name?" I'm confused, and the bank wasn't clear on this. Will someone please enlighten me?

here in nevada...we have a business licence for the city (which would have your fictitious name) and the state license.

For the business license go to your county clerk's office to get a form.

I would like to start a small landscaping and/or mowing business in my free time. How do I get started?

Any tips on legal, accounting, insurance, taxes, etc. would be great. Landscaping/mowing specific answers would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Start Your Own Lawn Care Business (Entrepreneur Magazine's Start Up) by Eileen Figure Sandlin
* Start & Run A Landscaping Business by Joel LaRusic
* How to Start a Home-Based Landscaping Business, 4th by Owen Dell
* Lawn Care & Gardening: A Down-To-Earth Guide to the Business by Mickey Willis

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

What would be the best and easiest accounting program for a Landscaping Company?

This is a small business, and I believe it only has 1 employee. Looking into Quickbooks: SimpleStart. Would this be a recommended program?

quickbooks is fine for a small business- I use it for my quilting company and my accountant loves that I can print reports out for him :)

Gardening Landscaping Tips to Appeal to Your Aesthetics

More and more people are now taking up gardening landscaping projects for a hobby for a number of reasons. For one thing, gardening landscaping projects allow them to create something that would benefit them and they will enjoy, once it is completed. People, who receive a lot of praises for their gardening landscaping projects, can earn some extra profit apart from their normal 9-to-5 jobs by either providing gardening landscaping articles over the Internet or even setting up their own company.

The revelation came after the Coast Guard’s scheduled September 11 anti-terrorist drill on the Potomac rattled nerves. The nerves rattled belong to the FBI and Secret Service, who get all jumpy about folks bouncing over the Potomac with machine guns while the president is nearby laying a wreath – especially when they get no advance warning. “They need us to seem human,” Bubbleshy explained. “I mean, here’s an administration headed by this black guy who’s a law professor with enough ivy on his resume to go into the landscaping business. Everything he touches seems to work eventually. You know what kind of hate and envy that’s going to generate? “...
