The fencing men have left their tools and a hired concrete mixer in our back garden.
How long should we give them to come and collect before we dispose of them?
What on earth do we do with a concrete mixer if they don't collect it?
Did you call them to tell them they are there? Maybe they have forgotten which house they were working on at the time.
If you call and they don't come:
Keep the tools, call the rental company (name will be on the mixer somewhere) and tell them to come get their mixer.

My garden surface is random rubble and stones packed hard. I dug a small area with a shovel to see how deep the soil is, and after digging about 20cm i reached some tiles which are laid on top of the soil.
I need to hire a tool to make it easy for me to dig and loosen up all the rubble and tiles to expose the soil. What can i use?
Well, the clearance for garden entrance is just enough for my motorcycle to go through, which is 810mm in width. If i can find a digger which is less than that, i may be able to get it through... I'll give it a try.
What sort of access do you have to your garden - if I wanted to do that I would simply hire a mini-digger from my local hire shop.
They are around 750 - 1000 mm wide and have tracks each side so will pass down a reasonably flat footpath quite easily, a hydraulic arm with a 'bucket' on the end does the digging - like a JCB only much much smaller -you usually have a quick lesson on how to operate it yourself then off you go.

I have a good size garden completely overgrown with dock leaves and weeds.
Hiring someone to do the work costs a fortune, so I've decided to do it myself.
I need to kill the weeds, clear space and get the soil ready to put rollout grass on top.
So far the best idea I've had is to hire a Brush cutter to cut them down, then use a flame gun to burn the remaining ones (also thought it might help the soil).
Is this the best approach or do you have any better ideas?
Please help!!
You've had some quotes for the work right? And they were all expensive? I'd say you are about to take on a project of mammoth proportions all on your own - look after your back!
Your first task is to cut down the vegetation as much as you can, scythe whatever is most suited to the job. Next you want to kerb regrowth - either cover the whole area with black plastic or other non-permeable sheeting. Dig out the roots of the docks. Leave this for at least 4 weeks. Return to it and remove surface remnants of vegetation. Next use a rotavator to till the ground - removing remaining roots and large stones.
Next rake the ground so that it is flat all over. Once raked, you will have to tamp down the whole area - either with your feet or a tamping tool. Now you are ready to roll out your turfs. Laying them is quite a skill, then you have to care for this area very carefully for the next year.

I moved into my new house last year and the garden was already overgrown, I strimmed the grass down but then left it because I was busy doing the interior of the house. Now it's overgrown again and I have decided to tackle it.
Right at this minute, I have a couple of guys from a local tool hire place ripping up all the weeds and nettles and leaving bare soil. However, there is still a few weeds and stuff in the soil, but they've been pulled up.
What should be the next step once everything is pulled up, to prepare the garden for a lawn, also will the weed bits in the soil grow back if they're not pulled out completely?
Many thanks in advance.
make life easy for yourself, you can rent a tiller or have someone do it for you. pick up a bag a of starter fertilizer and spread it over the area to be tilled. till it,level it out seed it and apply some straw over the area to keep birds from devouring your seed.keep the soil moist till the grass is 2 inches high and it will be fine.as for weeds, well their like in laws no matter what you do they will show up ! but as long as you use a good weed and feed you can keep them under control.TIP. do not use any weed and feed fertilizer the first year.give the new grass a chance to grow.
I've got a very overgrown back yard (new to the house) and want to clear land and plant a garden, grass and flowers. We have worked weekend after weekend cutting, hauling, pruning and clearning and it's still pretty crowded back there. Any experience and advice on clearing vines that have grown into tall OLD pine trees, clearing poison Ivy and poison Oak, digging up old dead bushes, and removing years worth of pine straw and leaves would be greatly appreciated. I can NOT afford to hire the work out but I can afford some great super tool or machine that would cut my load considerably if there is such a thing.

You could do a controled burn, but call the fire department..
If you can not afford a professional, that means you have to do it and it is hard work....talk your timje and do it right....rip it all out, rotar till the ground a few time and let it sit for a week to see if anything start growing back.....it is hard to wipe out Mother's natures work....It takes time...
good luck

How to Hire Teens for Cash | Bukisa.com
When you hire teens for cash, you are usually getting a good deal on the price of labor, and the teens get a good deal because it is often hard for them to find ways to make extra spending money when they are not at school. This article will give you tips on how to find teenagers that are willing to help with household jobs such as cleaning, yard work, and babysitting .
Instructions
Ask the local high school if they have a place where you could post a flier advertising a job opportunity. This method works especially well for jobs where it doesn't make too much of a difference who agrees to help out, such as yard work.
Ask for recommendations from friends and neighbors. This is a particularly good method to use when you are trying to hire a teenager for a job like babysitting, where you want to be sure that you hire a good and responsible person to watch your children . If your friends recommend a babysitter that they trust with their children, the chances are better that you will trust the teenager with your children.
