What home made stuff can I use to decorate my garden?
Woodland photograph

Do you have any idea of what I can use as decoration for my garden- stuff I can easily do or stuff you find around the house?
For example- I have this small case in which I put books and if I empty it and plant something in it, it will look so original.
So, any more ideas?

ok well i have lots of things to ask, i've just got into the whole gardening thing =) it's so easy now i know what i am doing! well with a little help of you lovely people =) so....
i have alot of left over fruit and veg and plant clippings of weeds and stuff.. i got a big black pot and made some holes in the sides and i put it in the ground and chucked it all in there.. i'm thinking it would be ok as it will rot away.. am i right in thinking that?
also could i do the same sort of thing for my dogs poop?
would i need to put anything in with it? i put a big paving stone over the one i just done.. also is a water butt a really good thing.. do plats like rain water more than tap water? as there is chlorine in it..? sorry if i sound like a total newbie to it but i am =D also i want to plant some carrots but i have to do it in pots as my dog will eat them. how deep do i need the pots? i got my spuds in tires so she cant get them and my other plants are on a table. till i get fencing!
wow i said alot but i wasnt done lol is there any way of getting cheaper dirt? i've been paying like £4 for a bag at B&Q is there anywhere else? i'm in the uk here so some uk shops or places would be good.. also do i need to get some horse poo for growing my mushrooms? because i cant seem to find any in B&Q :(
oh sorry again!! i'm growing some pumpkins and there kind of leaning on the dirt should i stake them? like i am ment to with butter nut squashes? as they are from the same family.. also growing things like onions do the need stone free dirt like carrots? and do radishes need it too?
hello :( anyone there?
not the answers i was looking for but thanks for answering :)

Okay one thing at a time. First off I'm in the USA, so some things I can't speak on. However:

Compost bucket sounds very good. I wouldn't mix in the dog excriment, that I would bag up and throw out. There are products that can be added - lyme is one good one, but there are other things, this is best asked at a nursery store. Remember to use a pitch fork and turn it every so often.

Yes rain water is best for plants, if you can get a large barrel you can collect it and use a bucket to get it out for watering. If you can't, tap water will work fine.

Carrots need at least 12 inches of dirt for growing, I think it's funny that your 4 legged child would eat them!!

Pumpkins are a ground vine, if you stake them the fruit will pull the vines down when it gets too heavy and damage the plant.

I know there was more, but I can't remember,,,sorry. I hope this helps!

Can I install sims 2 mansion and garden stuff to a point where I don't need to use the disk?
http://www.thenaturalgardener.co.uk/things_we_could_not_resist.php#fillitwithanything

I need to be able to play sims 2 mansion and garden stuff without the disk? Can I install it fully? Is there another way?

If you've installed the program you can do a search for Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff nocd patch and download the .exe that has been modified to not look for the cd/dvd in the drive at start up.

Installed Mansion and Garden Stuff and custom content disappeared?
http://www.thenaturalgardener.co.uk/things_we_could_not_resist.php#fillitwithanything

I have The Sims 2 and had several downloads that were working in the game . I just installed Mansion and Garden Stuff and now everything that I had downloaded has disappeared. What went wrong?

Am I going to loose downloads every time I install a new expansion pack?

I can't tell you what went wrong, but I can say that you are not supposed to lose downloads every time you install a new expansion pack (or stuff pack for that matter).
My only suggestion would be to either re-download the extra content you had, or to search for them on your computer and put them back into the game.

Cheat problems with The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff?
green ones

So I just downloaded The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff, and now I am unable to use any cheats. I type in CTRL+SHIFT+C, and the cheat box won't even show up anymore. Before I downloaded the new extension, I could use all cheats with no problems... Any suggestions?

I doubt it's a problem with the game. I'm guessing that it's just coincidence that this happened when you downloaded the stuff pack.
Did you install computer updates recently, and do you have an HP? This problem is most common on HP's, but it happens on any PC sometimes. It's usually caused by another program on your computer assigning the CTRL+SHIFT+C shortcut command.
So if this is the problem, it's fairly easy to fix. Just go onto your computer desktop screen, and make sure nothing else is running in the back. Then hit CTRL+SHIFT+C and some program should start running. It's usually the "HP healthcheck". So whatever program it is, just make sure you know what the name is, and close it. Then find it in the start menu and right click on it. Don't open it. Then go to the "properties" option. Then there should be a box that says "shortcut keys" and then delete the CTRL+SHIFT+C from that box, and it shoudl say none or something like that. Save the settings if it asks you to, otherwise it will do that itself.
Then try to use your cheat box in game again, and it should work. It worked for me anyway.

Sharing Nature's Garden: More of the wet stuff!

I'm glad you've found my garden journal. Perhaps the only thing greater than the satisfaction of nurturing a seed to a seedling to a blooming or producing plant is the joy of sharing nature's bounty with others. Whether I'm peddling garden tomatoes we can't possibly eat or sharing stories about why the verbena isn't doing well, my garden connects me. It connects me to the earth, to our wildlife friends, to fellow gardeners, and, to myself. So, welcome. I hope you'll feel connected here. What makes me tick? As an avid master gardener and freelance landscape designer, i love "puttering" in my gardens. I'm passionate about my family (DH and 2 kids, 25 and 6!) & our neurotic dogs. In my former life, I've flipped houses, managed political & corporate public affairs & communications campaigns & volunteered for a girls' empowerment group & our local animal shelter.
