it's a finished wooden garden stool but I wanna do something creative with it & use it as an end table.

I am not a pro but I would think that you should sand it first then apply a primer and then you can paint it how you want to.
You can buy the paint from any hardware store or Wal-Mart, Lowes, HomeDepot store. Ask someone that works at one of those stores for a professional answer.

This cat owner has a back garden three houses away from mine. His cat invariably calls into my garden in preference to other more close gardens to leave his stools. I have put up a plastic chicken wire one meter high atop of the dividing wall. After a month, the same cat tried to come into my garden again but apparently did not succeed to overcome the obstacle which it damaged however. Why does it persist to use my garden in preference to other gardens as his place where to leave his stools. A bit curious!
now that his scent is there he will continue to return to use the bathroom

I have mature bamboo stools that border a section of my property. The plants that are planted there have remained stunted. What can I do? There is a lot of space and potential for this area - PLEASE HELP!!!

The problem you are having has more to do with the bamboo than the soil. Bamboo is notorious for growing underground. This is how it spreads. The problem is with the far reaching root system of the bamboo. It is encroaching on your garden area, and competing for the water and nutrients your garden plants need to survive.
Dig a trench along the lot line and remove the roots. Install a barrier in the trench and refill. Aggressively remove any bamboo shoots and as many roots on your side of the barrier as possible.
This problem also happens with Raspberries. I buried a 1' by 12' length of vinyl siding for a barrier on my raspberries. It has worked well this year to keep out new raspberry growth past the barrier.
As for your clay soil, dig out at least a 1' circle, and a foot deep for each plant. Break up the clay from the holes and add sand, or compost, or both, and mix well, Refill the holes with the mix, and replant. This will give them a fighting start.

We bought a coffee table after not having one for so long because we thought every livingroom needed one. It seemed like a good idea in theory to have a large surface infront of us to set things but after a few days of having it in the center of our livingroom we ended up moving it out of the way to vacuum, and then never bothered to move it back. Although we haven't officially discussed it I have a feeling we both like it better open or one of us would have moved it back. We do have tables on either side of the couch, then a shelf behind the couch, a bookcase within reach, and an ottoman as well. So plenty of places to put things. I guess the coffee table was just overkill.
They all appear to be so awkward to me:
#1 has a stool that wants to be a coffee table but doesn't have enough space to grow into one.
#2 looks like a therapy room at the child-psychologist's office.
#4 is so painfully vast and Empty - Anyone want to sit and look...
