Anyone knows GOOD cheap or average Covent Garden pubs & bars?

I'm heading off to the mongolian barbeque for our office Christmas Do and we want to go drinking afterwards. Just somewhere close but where drinks are cheap or at least average. I know it's a lot to ask but maybe someone out there knows of a cool place? We're all mid 20's to early 50's

Freemason's Arms 81-82 Longacre or Harp, 47 Chandos Place. Both are in the Good Beer Guide 2007. Don't expect much change out of £3 for a pint anywhere in WC2.

What happened to the sunday night open mic night at the spot bar, covent garden, london?

There used to be a fantastic open mic night with live band at the spot bar in covent garden, london every sunday night.

What happened to this night when the spot bar closed down and reopened as an awful trendy members club jewel.

Did the open mic night move to a new venue??

yep it was closed down.

Where can I find a good cocktail bar around covent garden/Leicester square area?

Unknown Bar in Covent Garden Area?

Im going to london again this summer.

Last time i was in the Covent Garden area i found a Bar/Pub and i had a good laugh. But looking on googlemaps i cannot find it.

It was popular, with a large beer garden/Smoking area at the front of the Bar. It could have been near the PorterHouse but im not sure.

Any suggestions are apppreciated

Sounds like The Porterhouse on Maiden Lane to me.

where are the best, and most reasonably priced places to spend a night drinking and dancing in covent garden?

I am going to London for my birthday but i'm not very familiar with good places to drink. I am told that Covent Garden is a good place to head for so want to have a destination or two in mind first. We want to explore a few places but want to avoid the VERY expensive bars!!! We would also like to end up somewhere that we can have a dance. Please help!!! Thank you

Nowhere is cheap in Covent Garden, depends on what you consider to be expensive? Most of the bars are about the same price for a beer, cocktails are another matter. It is VERY touristy, which is one reason why it is so expensive. It's not really a place to go dancing, unless you like the most mainstream overpriced clubs that exist in London. Try Be at One on Wellington Street, they have friendly bartenders and reasonably priced (relatively) drinks with a party atmosphere.
